Sharks have signed former France international Clement Poitrenaud ahead of the 2017 Super Rugby season.
Poitrenaud, 34, can play at full-back or centre and earned 47 caps for his country, having retired from international duty in May.
He joins on a one-year deal after leaving Toulouse, where he had played since making his senior debut in 2000.
"Clement Poitrenaud brings with him a wealth of experience at both international and club level," Sharks head coach Robert du Preez said.
"He is a good acquisition for us and he will provide great mentorship and be a calming influence on the young full-backs in our team."
Sharks lost to eventual winners Hurricanes in the Super Rugby quarter-finals in July.
