Uncapped props Zander Fagerson and Rory Sutherland have been named in Scotland's 35-man squad for the Six Nations, but there is no place for Ryan Wilson.
Glasgow Warriors tighthead Fagerson, who turns 20 on Wednesday, and Edinburgh front-row Sutherland, 23, have been called upon for the first time following impressive performances at club level.
The former could become the youngest prop to represent Scotland for more than half a century, but Glasgow team-mate Wilson has been omitted - a day after the flanker was cited for allegedly grabbing the testicles of an opponent in a European Rugby Champions Cup match against Northampton Saints.
Head coach Vern Cotter has recalled fellow front-rowers Moray Low and Pat MacArthur, while centres Alex Dunbar and Duncan Taylor return from injury and there are places for four other players who missed last year's Rugby World Cup - John Barclay, Adam Ashe, Chris Fusaro and Ruaridh Jackson.
Grant Gilchrist and Henry Pyrgos have been invited to train with the squad at St Andrews this weekend, before returning to their clubs to continue recoveries from respective groin and wrist problems.
Cotter said: "We've selected a mixture of experience with some exciting young players coming through, some of whom have experienced the Rugby World Cup and are eager to move forward, take the RBS 6 Nations head on and show that we can develop our game and be competitive.
"I think there should be confidence. The guys have worked hard and improved. There are positive signs that we can compete, and this championship will give us another opportunity to measure ourselves against very good opposition in a tough competition.
"The guys believe that we can compete, dominate and secure victories in these games."
Scotland, who will again be captained by Gloucester scrum-half Greig Laidlaw, begin their campaign against England at Murrayfield on February 6.
