Borthwick would be honoured by Lions role

England forwards coach Steve Borthwick says it would be an honour to form part of Warren Gatland's coaching team for the 2017 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand.

Borthwick has been a key figure in England's sensational run under Eddie Jones, having reunited with the Australian following their time together with the Japanese national team.

England are unbeaten since Jones took charge and Borthwick is reported to have been approached about a role on Gatland's staff.

"For any coach it would be a huge honour," the former England captain told BBC Radio Five Live.

"But right now my focus is solely on England versus Argentina this Saturday.

"It would be an honour if I was asked to be involved. It would then be something I would discuss with Eddie."

Borthwick won 57 caps for England as a player but never turned out for the Lions.
