Leigh Halfpenny has failed in his race to be fit for Toulon's Champions Cup quarter-final against Racing 92.
A serious knee ligament injury sustained while representing Wales ahead of last year's Rugby World Cup has kept Halfpenny out of action since September.
Toulon head coach Bernard Laporte had been hoping to have the full-back available for the clash with Racing on April 10, but has ruled him out of contention.
The Welshman is not expected to return to action until the Top 14 clash with Pau on April 16.
"For Leigh Halfpenny, it's still too early," Laporte said.
"For now it's not possible. The quarter-final against Racing is not a possibility for him.
"I think he'll be OK for the match against Pau. It's what we've planned."
Toulon are looking to lift the Champions Cup for a fourth successive season.
