Free State Cheetahs warmed up for their Currie Cup semi-final against Golden Lions with a 63-26 demolition of Griquas, ending the regular season with eight wins from eight.
The Cheetahs were already assured of their place at the top of the Premier Division table ahead of the final round of fixtures, and Friday's three matches completed the last-four line-up to leave Saturday's clash in Bloemfontein as a dead rubber.
But the hosts showed no sign of taking it easy as they ran in six first-half tries against a Griquas outfit who end the season in sixth.
Griquas opened the scoring through Johnathan Francke in the opening seconds, but Cheetahs responded strongly to go in at half-time with a 42-12 advantage.
Shaun Venter, who had scored the third of the Cheetahs first-half tries, crossed again after the break, sandwiched between touchdowns from Griquas pair Andre Swarts and Jason Fraser.
And the Cheetahs pulled away once more through late tries from Torsten van Jaarsveld and Raymond Rhule to give the scoreline an even more convincing gloss.
Golden Lions visit Bloemfontein for their semi-final clash on October 15.
