France captain Guilhem Guirado is not expected to be fit for the start of the 2016/17 Top 14 season as he recovers from a knee injury.
The 30-year-old Toulon hooker damaged his knee during the Top 14 final defeat to Racing 92 in Barcelona last month and underwent a scan this week.
Guirado is expected to be out for another five weeks, which would rule him out of his side's Top 14 opener at Bayonne on August 20.
Toulon missed out on both the Top 14 and European Champions Cup trophies last season and new signing Francois Trinh-Duc is aiming to inspire the club to glory this time around following his move from Montpellier.
The France fly-half said: "It's a big challenge for me. I was used to Montpellier, I spent 11 years there as a pro and you don't forget that in a hurry.
"I have good memories but now I want to look forward. I'm changing club and changing life. With my family we already feel very good here.
"I arrive here on tip toes with the aim of playing here and for France. The club is starting a new era with a new coaching team. We're turning over a new leaf. It's up to us new players especially, to write the next chapter in the club's history."
